1 And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
וַיְהִ֕י כִּשְׁמֹ֖עַ יָבִ֣ין מֶֽלֶךְ־חָצֹ֑ור וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח אֶל־יֹובָב֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ מָדֹ֔ון וְאֶל־מֶ֥לֶךְ שִׁמְרֹ֖ון וְאֶל־מֶ֥לֶךְ אַכְשָֽׁף׃

וְֽאֶל־הַמְּלָכִ֞ים אֲשֶׁ֣ר מִצְּפֹ֗ון בָּהָ֧ר וּבָעֲרָבָ֛ה נֶ֥גֶב כִּֽנֲרֹ֖ות וּבַשְּׁפֵלָ֑ה וּבְנָפֹ֥ות דֹּ֖ור מִיָּֽם׃
| 2 καὶ πρὸς τοὺς βασιλεῖς τοὺς κατὰ Σιδῶνα τὴν μεγάλην, εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ εἰς τὴν Ῥαβὰ ἀπέναντι Κενερὼθ καὶ εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ εἰς Ναφεδδὼρ | 2 καὶ πρὸς βασιλεῖς τοὺς κατὰ Σιδῶνα τὴν μεγάλην, εἰς τὴν ὀρεινὴν καὶ εἰς Ἄραβα ἀπέναντι Κενερὼθ καὶ εἰς τὸ πεδίον καὶ εἰς Φεναεδδὼρ |

הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ מִמִּזְרָ֣ח וּמִיָּ֔ם וְהָאֱמֹרִ֧י וְהַחִתִּ֛י וְהַפְּרִזִּ֥י וְהַיְבוּסִ֖י בָּהָ֑ר וְהַֽחִוִּי֙ תַּ֣חַת חֶרְמֹ֔ון בְּאֶ֖רֶץ הַמִּצְפָּֽה׃

4 And they went out, they and all their armies with them, much people, even as the sand that is upon the sea shore in multitude, with horses and chariots very many.
וַיֵּצְא֣וּ הֵ֗ם וְכָל־מַֽחֲנֵיהֶם֙ עִמָּ֔ם עַם־רָ֕ב כַּחֹ֛ול אֲשֶׁ֥ר עַל־שְׂפַת־הַיָּ֖ם לָרֹ֑ב וְס֥וּס וָרֶ֖כֶב רַב־מְאֹֽד׃
| 4 καὶ ἐξῆλθον αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν μετ’ αὐτῶν ὥσπερ ἡ ἄμμος τῆς θαλάσσης τῷ πλήθει καὶ ἵπποι καὶ ἅρματα πολλὰ σφόδρα. | 4 καὶ ἐξῆλθον αὐτοὶ καὶ οἱ βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν μετ’ αὐτῶν, ὥσπερ ἡ ἄμμος τῆς θαλάσσης τῷ πλήθει, καὶ ἵπποι καὶ ἅρματα πολλὰ σφόδρα. |

6 And the LORD said unto Joshua, Don’t be afraid because of them; for tomorrow about this time will I deliver them up all slain before Israel; you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire.

וַיִּתְּנֵ֨ם יְהוָ֥ה בְּיַֽד־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮ וַיַּכּוּם֒ וַֽיִּרְדְּפ֞וּם עַד־צִידֹ֣ון רַבָּ֗ה וְעַד֙ מִשְׂרְפֹ֣ות מַ֔יִם וְעַד־בִּקְעַ֥ת מִצְפֶּ֖ה מִזְרָ֑חָה וַיַּכֻּ֕ם עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־לָהֶ֖ם שָׂרִֽיד׃
| 8 καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς κύριος ὑποχειρίους Ἰσραήλ, καὶ κόπτοντες αὐτοὺς κατεδίωκον ἕως Σιδῶνος τῆς μεγάλης καὶ ἕως Μασερὼν καὶ ἕως τῶν πεδίων Μασσὼχ κατ’ ἀνατολὰς καὶ κατέκοψαν αὐτοὺς ἕως τοῦ μὴ καταλειφθῆναι αὐτῶν διασεσῳσμένον. | 8 καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς Κύριος ὑποχειρίους Ἰσραήλ, καὶ κόπτοντες αὐτοὺς κατεδίωκον ἕως Σιδῶνος τῆς μεγάλης καὶ ἕως Μασερὼν καὶ ἕως τῶν πεδίων Μασσὼχ κατ’ ἀνατολὰς καὶ κατέκοψαν αὐτοὺς ἕως τοῦ μὴ καταλειφθῆναι αὐτῶν διασεσωσμένον. |

| 12 καὶ πάσας τὰς πόλεις τῶν βασιλέων καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν ἔλαβεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἀνεῖλεν αὐτοὺς ἐν στόματι ξίφους, καὶ ἐξωλέθρευσαν αὐτούς, ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς κυρίου. | 12 καὶ πάσας τὰς πόλεις τῶν βασιλειῶν καὶ τοὺς βασιλεῖς αὐτῶν ἔλαβεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἀνεῖλεν αὐτοὺς ἐν στόματι ξίφους, καὶ ἐξωλόθρευσαν αὐτούς, ὃν τρόπον συνέταξε Μωυσῆς ὁ παῖς Κυρίου. |

| 14 καὶ πάντα τὰ σκῦλα αὐτῆς ἐπρονόμευσαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραήλ, αὐτοὺς δὲ πάντας ἐξωλέθρευσαν ἐν στόματι ξίφους, ἕως ἀπώλεσεν αὐτούς, οὐ κατέλιπον ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδὲ ἓν ἐμπνέον. | 14 καὶ πάντα τὰ σκῦλα αὐτῆς ἐπρονόμευσαν ἑαυτοῖς οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραήλ, αὐτοὺς δὲ πάντας ἐξωλόθρευσαν ἐν στόματι ξίφους, ἕως ἀπώλεσεν αὐτούς, οὐ κατέλιπον ἐξ αὐτῶν οὐδὲν ἐμπνέον. |

| 15 ὃν τρόπον συνέταξεν κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ τῷ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ Μωυσῆς ὡσαύτως ἐνετείλατο τῷ Ἰησοῖ καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς, οὐ παρέβη οὐδὲν ἀπὸ πάντων, ὧν συνέταξεν αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς. | 15 ὃν τρόπον συνέταξε Κύριος τῷ Μωυσῇ τῷ παιδὶ αὐτοῦ, καὶ Μωυσῆς ὡσαύτως ἐνετείλατο τῷ Ἰησοῖ, καὶ οὕτως ἐποίησεν Ἰησοῦς· οὐ παρέβη οὐδὲν ἀπὸ πάντων, ὧν συνέταξεν αὐτῷ Μωυσῆς. |

16 So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
וַיִּקַּ֨ח יְהֹושֻׁ֜עַ אֶת־כָּל־הָאָ֣רֶץ הַזֹּ֗את הָהָ֤ר וְאֶת־כָּל־הַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ וְאֵת֙ כָּל־אֶ֣רֶץ הַגֹּ֔שֶׁן וְאֶת־הַשְּׁפֵלָ֖ה וְאֶת־הָעֲרָבָ֑ה וְאֶת־הַ֥ר יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל וּשְׁפֵלָתֹֽה׃

18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.
יָמִ֣ים רַבִּ֗ים עָשָׂ֧ה יְהֹושֻׁ֛עַ אֶת־כָּל־הַמְּלָכִ֥ים הָאֵ֖לֶּה מִלְחָמָֽה׃

19 There wasn’t a city that made peace with the children of Israel, save the Hivites the inhabitants of Gibeon; all other they took in battle.

20 For it was of the LORD to harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
כִּ֣י מֵאֵ֣ת יְהוָ֣ה ׀ הָיְתָ֡ה לְחַזֵּ֣ק אֶת־לִבָּם֩ לִקְרַ֨את הַמִּלְחָמָ֤ה אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ לְמַ֣עַן הַֽחֲרִימָ֔ם לְבִלְתִּ֥י הֱיֹות־לָהֶ֖ם תְּחִנָּ֑ה כִּ֚י לְמַ֣עַן הַשְׁמִידָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר צִוָּ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה אֶת־מֹשֶֽׁה׃

21 And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel; Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.

23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD said unto Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land rested from war.
וַיִּקַּ֨ח יְהֹושֻׁ֜עַ אֶת־כָּל־הָאָ֗רֶץ כְּ֠כֹל אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֣ר יְהוָה֮ אֶל־מֹשֶׁה֒ וַיִּתְּנָהּ֩ יְהֹושֻׁ֨עַ לְנַחֲלָ֧ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל כְּמַחְלְקֹתָ֖ם לְשִׁבְטֵיהֶ֑ם וְהָאָ֥רֶץ שָׁקְטָ֖ה מִמִּלְחָמָֽה׃
